dc.descriptionThe next article presents the development of an investigation project focused on the analysis of patients’ flow to the emergency room at Hospital Universitario la Samaritana in Bogotá, Colombia in order to propose strategies that allow raising the level of attention and the use of available resour­ces. First, a discrete simulation model was developed to describe the system and its key variables such as: arrival of patients, length of their stay, delays in attention and required ER staff. Within the context of this project, a methodology of segmentation was developed, based on the days of stay and the patient’s pathologies. After, scenarios and strategies were proposed to reduce the patient’s length of stay in the emergency room.en-US
dc.descriptionEl siguiente artículo presenta el desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación enfocado en el análisis de flujo de pacientes para plantear estrategias que permitan elevar el nivel de atención y el uso de los recursos disponibles en la Unidad de Urgencias del Hospital Universitario la Samaritana, en la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia. Para esto se implementó un modelo de simulación discreta que re­presenta el sistema y sus variables clave como: arribo de pacientes, el tiempo de estadía, demoras en atención y el personal requerido. Bajo el marco de este proyecto, se propone una metodología de segmentación de pacientes basándose en los días de estadía y su patología. Posterior a esto, se plantean escenarios y estrategias para la reducción de tiempo de estadía de pacientes en la Unidad.es-ES
