Obtención de biodiesel a partir de aceite usado de cocina por transesterificación en dos etapas, con dos tipos de alcoholes

dc.description.abstractSe ha investigado el efecto de la temperatura de reacción, el tipo de alcohol (metanol-etanol) y su mezcla, relación molar alcohol:aceite, concentración de catalizador alcalino hidróxido de sodio (NaOH) y el tiempo de reacción en la transesterificación de aceite de cocina usado en dos etapas ácida y alcalina. Los resultados arrojaron 90.3% de conversión de ácidos grasos a ésteres alquílicos para la transesterificación con mezcla de alcoholes al 50% molar, a 55°C de temperatura, relación molar alcohol aceite 24:1, 0.55% de hidróxido de sodio y 3 horas de reacción. Los resultados mostraron que la transesterificación de aceite usado de cocina con etanol requiere mayores relaciones molares y concentraciones de catalizador que con metanol y que los tiempos de reacción con etanol son menores frente al metanol. Las características en la transesterificación de cada tipo de alcohol en función de las variables significativas y sus interacciones fueron descritas.spa
