dc.descriptionThis paper studies the background, structure, and workings of the French Council of State under the Ancien Régime. In order to obtain the corresponding information, the head researcher and the assisting students consulted sources of an exclusively documentary sort, as well as books about the lives and works of the four Louises who preceded the Revolution and of their most outstanding counselors. Basically, two methods were used in this approach the historical one and the comparative one. Our main conclusions are: 1) The remotest precedents of the French Council of State are to be found in the Roman concilium principis. 2) Administrative contralization is not a French Revolution but an Ancien Régime feature.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo estudia los antecedentes, estructura y funcionamiento del Consejo de Estado francés bajo el antiguo régimen. Para obtener la información, el investigador principal y los estudiantes que actuaron como auxiliares de investigación recurrieron a fuentes exclusivamente documentales y consultaron varios textos sobre la vida y obra de los cuatro Luises que precedieron a la Revolución, así como sobre las de sus más destacados consejeros. En esta investigación se utilizaron básicamente dos métodos: el histórico y el comparativo. Las dos más importantes conclusiones a que se llegó son: 1) los más antiguos antecedentes del Consejo de Estado francés se hallan en el concilio del príncipe (concilium principis) del derecho romano, y 2) la centralización administrativa no es patrimonio de la Revolución Francesa sino del Antiguo Régimen.es-ES
