dc.description.abstractLa situación crítica surtida en el rio Atrato (Chocó) y sus afluentes, producto de la explotación de la minería, que dejó como consecuencia afectaciones ambientales irreversibles y vulneró los derechos fundamentales a la vida, la salud, el agua, la seguridad alimentaria, medio ambiente sano, la cultura de las comunidades étnicas que habitan la cuenca del Atrato y territorios aledaños. En efecto, se encuentra al Estado responsable por no haber actuado diligentemente en el asunto en mención; dicha responsabilidad llevó a la Corte Constitucional en la Sentencia t622 de 2016 a ordenar que se realicen estudios toxicológicos y epidemiológicos que muestren un panorama completo y actualizado sobre el nivel de contaminación del río y de la gente para luego elaborar un plan que ayude a recuperar la cuenca.spa
