Description

 The human development index (HDI) is used globally to measure the progress of each country. In this article a theoretical revision of the origin and measurement of human development is made up to the index of human development created by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). It will also analyze the performance of the HDI for Colombia in the period 2002-2014, looking at its three components: long and healthy life, access to education and the enjoyment of a decent standard of living.
El índice de desarrollo humano (IDH) es usado mundialmente para medir el progreso de cada país. En el presente artículo se hace una revisión teórica del origen y medición del desarrollo humano hasta llegar al índice de desarrollo humano creado por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD). También se analizará el desempeño que ha tenido el IDH para Colombia en el periodo 2002-2014, reseñando a cada uno de los tres componentes del indicador: vida prolongada y saludable, acceso a la educación y disfrute de un nivel de vida decente
