He was intrigued how it was possible that from a single cell, the zygote, generated a structured organism, composed of millions of different cells with different specializations, despite sharing, all, the same genome. A él le intrigaba cómo era posible que a partir de una única célula, el cigoto, se generara un organismo estructurado, compuesto de millones de células diversas con diferentes especializaciones, a pesar de compartir, todas, el mismo genoma. ¿Cuál era la explicación de esa diferenciación celular?
