The study addressed the systematic review of the management and disposal of waste derived from solar panels at the Universidad Libre Seccional Socorro, with a focus on environmental and regulatory implications, in order to propose a management strategy. Thus, it was determined that, despite the obvious benefits of solar energy, the lack of regulations and infrastructure for the treatment of these wastes presents a significant challenge. As a result, a gap was found in the current regulations and a lack of adequate places for temporary storage and final disposal, in addition to the fact that these projects end their cycle after 25 years, and according to the magnitude of the SFV, approximately 363.5 kg of silicon would be generated; where the most viable option is the extraction of the material for recycling; consequently, the conclusions point to the urgency of updating the regulations, promoting research and training in recycling techniques, and encouraging public-private collaboration to establish treatment centers. In addition, it is suggested that institutions, when acquiring new equipment, prioritize those with sustainable design and ease of recycling, thus ensuring a responsible energy transition and minimizing environmental impact.spa
