Preeclampsia, a very common pathological condition of pregnancy included within the spectrum of hypertensive disorders associated with placental endotheliosis, is closely related to alterations in fetal growth and placental disease, and the cerebro-placental ratio (CPR) has been established as a useful parameter in the identification of fetuses at risk of alterations in their growth potential. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the cerebro-placental ratio in the prediction of emergency cesarean section in pregnant women with preeclampsia and fetuses with growth according to gestational age older than 34 weeks in a Public Hospital of Barranquilla from YEAR 2019 - 2020. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional study was carried out with exploratory analysis of cases and controls. The sample consisted of two groups, a control made up of pregnant women with a diagnosis of Preeclampsia and a fetus with growth in accordance with the gestational age equal to or greater than 34 weeks who underwent emergency cesarean section for other causes and the cases were pregnant with diagnosis of Preeclampsia and fetus with growth according to gestational age equal to or greater than 34 weeks, with altered CPR, who underwent emergency cesarean section due to unsatisfactory fetal status. A descriptive analysis of the information was carried out and associated using Chi square and Odd ratio.RESULTS: The average age was 23.5 ± 5.5. The affiliation to the SGSS was 96% of the population for the Subsidized or Linked scheme. The most frequent comorbidity was HTN and the most frequent gestational complication was HT-G. The CPR was 1.52 ± 0.77 for cases and 2.08 ± 0.83 controls (p: 0.0068), a significant association was found between CPR and reasons for emergency cesarean section (p: 0.0002) and an OR of 18.7 for altered CPR and Cesarean section for unsatisfactory fetal status compared to Normal CPR and Cesarean section for other causes.CONCLUSION: CPR is a good predictor for Caesarean section due to Nonreassuring fetal status, since it allows evaluating the fetal status before entering labor.spa
