The consumption of sugary drinks implies multiple complications in the health of people such as chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, insulin resistance, but the consumption of these can be regulated with the incorporation of multiple measures that are born from the home, among which are regulated by parental styles specifically permissive, democratic or authoritarian style. In the short, medium and long term, these measures influenced the health and eating habits of young people, especially in relation to the consumption of unhealthy foods such as sugary drinks or as a result of changing lifestyle and diet. . This research aimed to describe the relationship of parental styles with the consumption of sugary drinks in school adolescents from the municipalities of Pereira and Cartago, derived from the concern about the increase in the consumption of sugary drinks and complications associated with these due to the impact that these have had and the great consumption in adolescents. A prospective, relational, and cross-sectional observational cohort study was used with a non-probabilistic sample of 228 school adolescents. The Scale of interpretation of parental styles and frequency of consumption was used. The relationship between these was found, showing that parents or caregivers exercise limits, structure through food education towards their children, giving them guidance on the benefits of having good habits or, on the contrary, the lack of these leads to a greater consumption of unhealthy foods. Likewise, it was shown that permissive and authoritarian parental styles have greater risks of young people consuming food such as sugary drinks, all this hand in hand with the level of education and sociodemographic characteristics of their parents. It is necessary to inform the population about the management of a healthy diet and the importance of knowing the nutritional content of this type of food.spa
