To determine the risk factors associated with Helicobacter pylori infection diagnosed by non-invasive molecular test in children between 4 and 14 years diagnosed with gastritis in the Departamento of the Atlantico period 2017. Materials and methods: Prospective analytical study of cases and controls, the population corresponds to a total of 78 children between 4 to 14 years with endoscopic diagnosis of gastritis, of these non-invasive molecular tests were performed for the detection of Helicobacter pylori in 56 children, of which 2 were excluded due to loss of data; the sample corresponds to 54 patients of which 36 entered the case group (positive molecular test in saliva) and 18 controls (negative molecular test). Results: A higher prevalence was observed in females with 66.7%, in controls the highest prevalence was observed in males with 61.1% with a mean age of 9.8 ± 4.5 years in cases versus 9.0 ± 3.8 years in controls. The sensitivity of the noninvasive molecular test in saliva was 72%, specificity 63%. Conclusions: The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection identified by non-invasive molecular test in saliva was 70.3%; the sensitivity of this test was 72%, specificity 63%, positive predictive value 92%, negative predictive value 28% with 5.5% false positives and false negatives 24%.Eng
