This case study was conducted at a public school in Bogota, Colombia with ninth grade students. The purpose of this research was to introduce the students to the use of ESP in the field of Administration and Finance, through the design and application of task-based language activities implemented through the virtual platform Moodle. It was projected based on the students' needs of technical vocabulary in tenth and eleventh grade and the lack of time presented in the timetable of the school to develop a course in face-to-face sessions. With regard to the data collection techniques used, these include: interviews, class observation, and analysis of the students' artifacts (taken from each one of the activities done on Moodle, the statistics of the virtual platform and an oral presentation performed by the pupils). Reference to the results of the study, they showed that the learners improved their lexical knowledge, showing an evident progress, passing from a process merely based on labelling to a more complex one, that lead them to construct a network building of words that are interconnected. Additionally, the students increased their motivation through the implementation of collaborative virtual activities, developing cooperative skills, and improving their communicative and technological abilities.Eng
