Mejoramiento de la producción textual en inglés

Abstract

Este estudio de tipo cualitativo indagó por la producción escrita en inglés de unos estudiantes del ciclo 4B del colegio distrital Magdalena Ortega de Nariño. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron una encuesta, una prueba diagnóstica y observación en el aula de clase. En la encuesta realizada los estudiantes expresaron su interés en aprender inglés pero manifestaron tener dificultades en la habilidad de escritura; La prueba diagnóstica consistió en escribir una biografía corta sobre cualquier persona; En sus escritos se pudo corroborar que los estudiantes tenían dificultades en la habilidad de escritura en inglés debido a la carencia de vocabulario, incorrecta conjugación de verbos y falta de conectores; Además, se hizo observación en el aula de clase, donde se constató que los estudiantes no practicaban la habilidad de escritura a través de alguna estrategia. Por lo anterior, se propuso una serie de estrategias que incluyen principalmente la implementación de juegos, como también el enfoque comunicativo, el Método PPP (Presentation, Practice and Production) y el enfoque centrado en el texto con el fin de mejorar la producción textual en inglés de los estudiantes.

This qualitative research found out the written English production of some students from grade 4B of Nariño Magdalena Ortega School. As a part of the instruments a survey, a diagnostic test and some classroom observations were conducted. In the survey the students stated their interest in learning English but they expressed difficulties in their writing skills; The diagnostic test consisted in writing a short biography about any person, in their statements it was corroborated that students had difficulties in writing skills in English, because they could not communicate in a clear way the information to the reader because of the lack of vocabulary, wrong conjugation of verbs and lack of connectors in their text; Moreover, after the observation process in the classroom, it was found that students did not practice their writing skills through any kind of strategy. As a consequence, a number of strategies were used in the classroom, including learning games and also the communicative approach, the PPP method (Presentation, Practice and Production) and the product approach in order to improve the writing production in English of the students.
