Joint replacement is one of the most successful scheduled procedures in orthopedics, as it improves the quality of life of patients by increasing function and reducing pain. However, one of the most feared and difficult-to-manage complications in joint replacements is periprosthetic infection (PPI). A cross-sectional study was proposed, designed with the objective of describing the clinical results of the use of Cement Spacers with double antibiotic (Gentamicin + Vancomycin) in periprosthetic infections applied in patients treated in a Health Services Provider Institution in Barranquilla in the period January 2018 to December 2022. 52.8% of the patients belong to the male sex, the mean age 64.7 ± 7.9 years (range 46 – 82 years); 52.8% of the prostheses involved were knee and the remaining 47.8% hip prosthesis, pain was the main clinical manifestation with 81.1% followed by fever with 60.4%. It was concluded that 2 out of 3 patients with PPI of the knee or hip progressed satisfactorily to a new joint replacement with antimicrobial management and the use of dual antibiotic cement spacers (gentamicin + vancomycin).spa
