Los derechos de la naturaleza, ni dogma ni ocurrencia: una justificación de su pertinencia desde la filosofía de Michel Serres

Abstract

Según algunas teorías científicas, todo lo que nace tiene que morir y tal afirmación se extiende a nuestro planeta Tierra, al Sol e incluso al universo entero. Por lo tanto, la modificación de las condiciones terrestres que permiten el desarrollo de la vida en general y de la vida humana en particular sobre el planeta que habitamos son un hecho y se producirán de todas maneras, sin que la intervención del ser humano nada pueda hacer ante tan fatal desenlace. Sin embargo, a dicha muerte colectiva que está pronosticada para unos cuantos millones de años en el futuro, se le ha sumado la incertidumbre de una muerte, también colectiva, que podría suceder en un tiempo más reducido y que involucra de manera directa al ser humano que vive sus días en la actualidad. Esta situación ha generado un cambio en el pensamiento, en los frutos del conocimiento y en los productos de la razón, pues por primera vez en la historia de la humanidad el humano se ha tenido que preguntar seriamente si tal acontecimiento puede llegar a ocurrir y, sobre todo a aceptar que podría llegar a pasar por algo que él mismo se ha encargado de producir. Como productos del desarrollo técnico, científico y cultural, nos encontramos en este momento frente a dicha constatación que se materializa en la existencia de poderosas armas químicas y nucleares que tienen el poder suficiente de acabar con toda la especie humana y con la modificación del clima, por la degradación de las condiciones que hacen que dicho clima sea apto para la existencia humana, causado directamente por los productos de la razón humana, que desde la revolución industrial se han venido acentuando, encumbrados ahora en una sociedad de consumo insaciable que es capaz de producir toneladas de basura diaria y residuos frente a los cuales no se sabe muy bien qué hacer con ellos, pero si se saben cuáles son las consecuencias ambientales que se producen, como por ejemplo el calentamiento de la Tierra, que en los últimos años viene aumentando de una manera alarmante y que según las predicciones científicas, de seguir con ese ritmo, no habrá ya mucho más de que lamentarse, pues no habría, literalmente, quien se lamentara. Therefore, the modification of the terrestrial conditions that allow the development of life in general and human life in particular on the planet we inhabit are a fact and will occur anyway, without the intervention of the human being anything can do to such a fatal outcome. However, to this collective death that is predicted for a few million years in the future, has been added the uncertainty of a death, also collective, that could happen in a shorter time and that directly involves the human being who lives his days nowadays. This situation has generated a change in thought, in the fruits of knowledge and in the products of reason, because for the first time in human history the human being has had to seriously ask himself if such an event could happen and, Above all to accept that he could go through something that he himself has been responsible for producing. As products of technical, scientific and cultural development, we are currently faced with this finding that is materialized in the existence of powerful chemical and nuclear weapons that have the power to kill the entire human species and change the climate, by the degradation of the conditions that make this climate suitable for human existence, caused directly by the products of human reason, which since the industrial revolution have been accentuated, now encumbered in a society of insatiable consumption that is capable of produce tons of daily garbage and waste, which you do not really know what to do with them, but if you know what the environmental consequences are, such as the warming of the Earth, which has been increasing in recent years in an alarming way and that according to scientific predictions, to continue with that pace, there will not be much more than to regret, because there would not be, literally, who would regret it.
