The prevalence of obesity and overweight has been increasing steadily in most human populations. In Colombia, one in two people is overweight or obese. This pathology may have epigenetic causes such as DNA methylation, which can be modified by diet. Objective: Compare the effect of two diets on global DNA methylation. Methodology: Through a crossover study, changes in % global DNA methylation of 44 adults with obesity were evaluated after two dietary interventions. Results: An increase of 31.25% in global DNA methylation was found with the usual diet compared to the experimental diet, while an increase in Vitamin C and E was evident with the latter. Conclusion: The experimental diet could be a protective factor since it maintained the global methylation pattern, however, more studies are required that can evaluate the methylation of specific genes.spa
